Fees, Financial Awards & Fee Payment

Links to fee payment information, including a detailed calendar and fee payment schedule) can be found on the Registrar's Student page.  Once registered for class, print and review your bill from VIP.  The fee payment deadline is 5:00 pm on the first day of classes.  Failure to pay fees on time will result in your registration being cleared and the need to re-enroll in classes.  This can result in difficulty obtaining the classes needed for this semester due to the fact that seats may no longer be available for the classes needed.  If you need assistance with fee payment, contact the Bursar's Office at 803-777-4233.

2008-2008 resident fees for incoming MACC students are $405 per credit hour and non-residents fees are $680 per credit hour.  If the $400 seat fee has been paid, it will reflect in your tuition for the first semester; however, it will not be shown as a separate item.  For example, a SC resident taking 12 hours in the fall with tuition at $370 per credit hour, having paid the $400 seat fee with the fall semester being their first term will receive a bill that shows COLA TUITION FALL $4,460.  [(12 hrs x $405) = $4,860 - $400]

For students with merit-based financial aid, fellowship awards should be in place for the Fall semester.  Fellowship awards are shows as Business Admin Scholarhip and fee reductions are shown as Misc Scholarship under Financial Awards on VIP and both must be applied to your account per the instructions (Using Your Aid to Pay Your Fees) on VIP.  If your Moore School fees, fellowship award, or fee reductions are not correct, you should contact Scott Kaplan at 803-777-3601 or by e-mail at sgk@moore.sc.edu.

Student loans must be applied to your account per the instructions (Using your Aid to Pay Your Fees) on VIP.  If your student loan proceeds are not shown or are incorrect, you must contact Financial Aid.

Recruiting Events
Please check the Calendar of Important Dates on the MACC student's page for firm recruiting socials.  If an invitation is available, the event will be underlined.  Click on this hyperlink for the formal invitation and RSVP information.  If detailed informaiton is not available, check back often as it will be posted as received.  The Beta Alpha Psi calendar is available at http://mooreschool.sc.edu/moore/organizations/bap/bap-calendar.htm.  All MACC students participating in recruiting are eligible and required to join and participate in Beta Alpha Psi functions.

MACC Course Offerings

The MACC Course Offerings schedule for Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 has been updated on the MACC current student page.  The Fall 2008 accounting course and the non-accounting elective course schedules are set.  The Spring 2009 accounting course schedules are fairly firm.  At this time, we are not sure about the non-accounting electives for Spring 2009.  Use the Summer 2008 schedule in planning for Summer 2009.  The Summer 2009 PMBA schedul has not been set.

Please review this schedule and make changes to your planned program of study for the 2008-2009 year as desired or needed.

ACCT 733

ACCT 733 has been added as an accounting elective for Spring 2009.  The course is titled Accounting Regulation and Financial Reporting Issues.  The course description is "the examination of the theoretical, practical, economic, and political aspects of accounting regulation and financial reporting issues."  In the past, students have really liked this class and it is a very good elective for student in either track.

Scholarship Opportunities and SCACPA & AICPA Student Membership

The South Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountant’s (SCACPA) Educational Foundation has a number of Scholarship Opportunities available to students who are residents of the state of South Carolina and who are rising juniors, seniors or graduate students. The applications and all attachments for this year must be postmarked by June 1, 2008. To find out more, visit the SCACPA web site at http://scacpa.org/ . Just move your mouse pointer over "Students".  From the drop down box, select "Scholarships and SCACPA Scholarship Application Form".

You will need a student certification letter, which we will be happy to provide.  Just let us know ASAP.

While you are at the student site, please take a minute to see what is available. There are links to a lot of excellent information including other scholarship opportunities that do not require that you be a resident of South Carolina.

Summer School Important Notice for USC Undergrads

If you have been admitted for one term and wish to start in an earlier term, you must request permission to do so by simply sending us an e-mail.  For example, if you are graduating from USC this spring, you are already eligible to register for 500-level courses this summer, based on your senior standing at USC.  You will not receive graduate credit for the course unless you have "graduate standing."  Our office cannot alter this error on your part at a later date.

Orientation Memo

There will also be a brief orientation for students entering in either of the summer terms on Monday, June 2nd at 1:00 pm in room 363. This is not mandatory, but you are highly encouraged to attend. There is no registration for this orientation.

You should also take time to print and again carefully review the Registration Memo that applies to you and the Registration Updates on the MACC Current Students Web page. There is important information in the Registration Memo that will not be covered again in the orientation memo. You should also review the updated MACC Calendar of Important Dates on the MACC Current Students Web page and mark your calendars accordingly.

Registration Reminder

Last reminder that VIP appointments for continuing students start April 1st and that new students should register as early as possible on April 7th.  Please refer to the appropriate registration memo for details.

You also may also want to check your eligibility to register on VIP one more time to make sure that no hold has shown up.

Curriculum Change – A curriculum change has removed ACCT 733, Accounting Theory as a required course in the BMA Track. It also changes the approved electives to 0 – 18 hours depending on the number of 500-level courses that must be taken. At least one of the electives must be a 700 level course. ACCT 733 will not be offered this fall or next spring.

Changes in Course Offerings for Fall 2008

New course offering:

Courses that will not be offered:

Electives - Approved elective courses are shown in the MACC Course Offerings. Tax track students can take any of the 700 level BMA track courses as electives. The only 700 level Tax track courses that BMA track students can take as electives without my approval are ACCT 750 & 754.

If you are in the BMA track and are not taking Auditing II in the fall, I highly recommend either ACCT 750 (Tax Research) or FINA 745 (Management of Employee Benefits). You may even want take Auditing II in the spring in order to take one of thesecourses.

If you are in the Tax track, note that ACCT 732 (Auditing II) will not conflict with any of the tax courses in the spring of 2009 and you may want to consider it as an elective.

You may take an elective that is not on the approved electives list as long as you have approval from the professor and Jimmy Burkett.

USC Students: Welcome back from break!

Thanks for your cards, e-mails, visits and prayers after my fathers death last week.  I and my family are doing well as we know that he is a better place and is not suffering any more. Thanks again!

Things for today:

►Updated:  February 29, 2008

An updated registration memo for new students and supplemental information is now available on MACC Students Page.  Please print and carefully review the following information:

The official VIP registration for incoming (new) graduate students begins April 7, 2008. You will not be given a VIP appointment time. You should pay your seat fee and register as soon as possible on April 9th in order to get the courses and times that you need or want. Undergraduate registration for seniors begins on the same day and open enrollment starts April 15th. If you register late, you may not be able to get into 400 & 500 level courses you need or want to take.

If you have received your admission letter from the Graduate School, you should also check your eligibility to register on VIP on March 17th.  You should check for all terms for which  you plan to register.  If you are ineligible to register, VIP should indicate the reason, and you should immediately take care of the problem. If you have missing documents (Official GMAT scores, official transcripts, etc), you should communicate directly with Ed Lilly in the Graduate School (777-7218, ed.lilly@sc.edu).

If you are receiving your undergraduate degree in May and plan to start in the summer, please let me know so I can get you an override to register for both summer & fall, as registration is generally limited to one term until a transcript with your degree posted is received.
