
Five alumni and a longtime friend of the Moore School were honored Friday, April 28, as the school's 2006 Distinguished Award recipients. The honorees received their awards at the school's 11th annual Business Leadership Dinner, which was held at The Zone at the University of South Carolina's Williams-Brice Stadium.
This was the 21st anniversary of the awards themselves.

The recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Awards were Catherine Spearman Brune (BS '74), senior vice president and chief information officer, Allstate Insurance Company; Harry S. Dent, Jr. (BS '75), president and founder, H.S. Dent Foundation and best-selling author of "The Great Boom Ahead" and "The Roaring 2000s"; and Charles Edward Charlie Zeigler, Jr. (BS 71), president and CEO of Cook and Boardman, Inc.

Named Distinguished Young Alumni were Mark E. Fryer (BS 89, MACC 90), president of the Davis-Garvin Agency, Inc., and Ilian Ljubomirov Mihov (BS 92), visiting associate professor of economics at the Columbia University School of Business and associate professor of economics at INSEAD.
Recipient of the Distinguished Service Award was Gayle Averyt, chairman emeritus of Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Co.
