
Moore School students Stephen Wright, Jenna Gonsalves, Nabil Cacheiro-Hamdi, and Kacie DuPuis are recipients of South Carolina International Trade Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each.
Wright, a rising senior majoring in international business and finance with minors
in Chinese and French, was named an Emerging Leader at the Moore School and was awarded the
Freeman-Asia Scholarship for study in Asia. He studied Mandarin Chinese during a semester abroad at
Peking University in Beijing. In addition to his academic achievements, Stephen interned both in
the U.S. and in China with ZF Industries. He is a native of Gainesville, Georgia.
Cacheiro-Hamdi is a member of the USC Honors College and a rising senior
majoring in international business, finance, and global supply chain and operations management,
with a minor in Spanish. He is a Global Supply Chain Operations Management Scholar, a member of the
Global Business Council, and vice president of Delta Sigma Pi international business fraternity.
Through self-study, he passed the Six-Sigma Green-Belt Certification Exam from Sonoco Products
Company in Hartsville in December 2007. In addition, he has worked as a trader support specialist
with Wachovia Bank, developed a product sourcing strategy for a new wine company in Columbia, and
is currently working as a linguistic consultant. His hometown is Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
DuPuis, also a member of the USC Honors College, is a senior majoring in
international business, marketing, and finance, with a minor in Russian. She was one of only 13
students selected for the Marketing Scholars course, in which students complete real-world projects
for client companies. (This semester’s project was an environmental fuel solutions initiative for
Chevrolet. Dupuis served as director for the project.) She is an Emerging Leader at Moore School
and serves on USC’s International Business Advocacy Council. She is a native of Conway,
Indiana.
Gonsalves is a member of the USC Honors College and a rising senior majoring in
marketing and global supply chain and operations management, with a minor in hospitality,
restaurant, and tourism management. For two years, she has competed as a member of a Moore School
case competition team, earning first place, second, third, and finalist honors in Los Angeles,
Thailand, Singapore, and Montreal. A native of Indiana, she was selected as a Moore School Emerging
Leader. She has interned with Caltherm Corp. in Columbus, Indiana, and has worked as a consultant
in the planning and supply chain department for MeadWestvaco in Charleston, South Carolina.
The scholarships were presented at the World Trade Luncheon at Charleston Place Hotel in Charleston May 28.
