Alicia Bervine is the chief human resources officer of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support system and serves as an advocate regarding benefits, policies, and practices that would have a positive impact on employees and as an advisor and strategic partner to division administration. Alicia is responsible for strategic human resources planning, policies, procedures, and training for the division as well as advising division managers in best practices and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and practices; and provide policy interpretation to ensure accurate and consistent application of all policies and procedures, and related local, state and federal laws, and applicable agreements.

Sammie serves as a strategic partner who ensures division alignment with university human resources practices. This role involves a combination of HR expertise and an understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by undergraduate students, graduate assistants, and staff. Sammie will play a critical role in developing and implementing HR strategies, division policies, and programs to support the recruitment, retention, and development of a highly skilled and engaged team to contribute to a positive educational experience and a vibrant campus community. She will also have direct management and oversight of the student employee experience and bring together professional development opportunities for student employees across the division. Sammie serves as a division subject matter expert on managing talent, assisting with other human resources related activities, and serves as a resource to employees as needed.

Tamila serves as the divisional point of contact for research and best practices for unit leaders to enhance efficiency and demonstrate excellence in people management, including base salary and additional pay. Tam is responsible for position management and creating a consistent framework to ensure unit leaders are managing and maintaining accurate and up to date position descriptions, ensuring the positions are aligned correctly with the university job structure and compensation strategy. She directly manages the service coordinators to ensure ticketing requests for positions maintain alignment with the university goals and the units within the division are getting their ticketing request filled.

Elizabeth serves as a strategic partner who ensures division alignment with university human resources practices. Will research and ensure best practices are utilized by unit leaders to enhance efficiency and demonstrate excellence in student services. Responsible for fostering a positive and productive work environment by developing, implementing, and overseeing employee relations strategies in coordination with DHR Employee Relations. The Director of Employee Relations for the division will be involved in resolving work place conflicts, promoting open communication, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations, and contributing to the overall well-being of the organization’s workforce.

The Director of Professional Development plays a critical role in advancing the professional growth and career development of staff within the Division of Student Affairs at the university. This position focuses on developing and managing a strategic professional development program tailored to the needs of student affairs staff. This includes identifying relevant topics, coordinating workshops, seminars, and training sessions, and securing expert facilitators. The director collaborates with division stakeholders to assess needs, to identify the professional development needs of student affairs professionals. Use feedback and data to refine and update the program content. The PD manager guides the division professional development team to organize and facilitate workshops and training sessions relevant to student affairs staff. This role requires a strong commitment to fostering a culture of professional development, supporting staff well-being, and promoting an inclusive and equitable learning environment.

 

Human Resources Coordinators and Student Staff Managers

These staff members perform a variety of duties in the administration of human resource for the division, including preparing and maintaining employment records related to actions such as hiring, terminations, leave, transfers, or promotions. They execute the full life cycle of changes for all student employees including new hires, separations and pay changes, and they maintain relationships with division units and ensure quality customer service.
